Intercultural Capital
European Year of Intercultural Dialogue - Intercultural Capital Liverpool 2008.
The Liverpool Culture Company's project, Intercultural Capital, has been designated the United Kingdom's Intercultural Dialogue project for 2008.
The essence of the project is that a number of relevant events and activities taking place during Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture will be given extra profile as Year of Intercultural Dialogue projects. We will also bring an added European dimension to a number of these projects, engaging some of Liverpool's twin and partner cities.
These events will enable us to address the theme of interculturalism - promoting dialogue between different cultures, faiths and age groups.

Flagship Projects
The 08 Volunteering Programme engages local citizens in presenting a welcoming face to the City and at key events. This is a great platform for people to share their experience and to work across the boundaries between age and cultural groups.
Go Superlambananas encourages communities, regional artists, and celebrities to transform up to 100 of the Liverpool mascots into unique and exciting artworks that will be displayed throughout the city. Within this project a group of young people from Dublin and Liverpool creates their very own piece of art that will be displayed in the public space.
Liverpool is also host to the 58th International session of the European Youth Parliament. The event brings together participants from more than 30 European countries to share ideas, background and heritage and experience different methods of cultural interaction.
Once a year on European Neighbours' Day citizens are encouraged to communicate with each other, strengthen ties and engage in their closer environment. Liverpool's own programme includes coffee mornings, carnivals, garden parties and community gatherings.
Cities on the Edge celebrates, discusses and shares Liverpool's strong sense of cultural identity with other European port cities. Part of the project is the Intercultural Cities Conference that provides an opportunity for International city leaders and experts to look at how different cultures can live together but how mixing can be turned to economic, social and cultural advantage.
